The Right Tire for the Right Axle

Steer. Drive. Trailer.

Most shops sell tires. We spec them. There is a real difference between a steer tire and a drive tire — and running the wrong one costs you fuel, tread life, and traction. Our people know axle positions, load ratings, and what happens when the spec is wrong.

Front Axle

Steer Tires

Precision handling, even tread wear, and low rolling resistance. The steer position demands a tire that tracks straight under load and disperses heat on highway miles. We don't put a drive tire here to save a dollar.

  • Michelin X Line Energy S
  • Bridgestone R269 EII
  • Continental HSL2+
  • Goodyear G661 HSA
  • Hankook TH22
Rear Powered Axle

Drive Tires

Traction under torque, fuel efficiency across long hauls, all-weather grip in Nassau County winters. Drive tires take the most abuse — construction sites, highway on-ramps, stop-and-go delivery routes.

  • Michelin XDN2 Grip
  • Bridgestone M773 II
  • Continental HDR2
  • Goodyear G182 RSD
  • Hankook AH11
Non-Powered Axle

Trailer Tires

High load capacity, heat resistance, long-haul stability. Trailer tires run for thousands of miles without the engine braking and torque inputs that give drive tires their workout. Different duty, different spec.

  • Michelin XTE2+
  • Bridgestone ST710
  • Continental HTL2+
  • Firestone T831

Load Ranges

We stock load ranges E through H on-site. E-rated (10-ply) for Class 6 and lighter Class 7 applications. F and G for standard Class 7–8 configurations. H-rated (16-ply) for maximum-load operations, dump trucks, and specialty commercial configurations.

  • Load Range E — 10-ply
  • Load Range F — 12-ply
  • Load Range G — 14-ply
  • Load Range H — 16-ply

Common Sizes Stocked

Standard 22.5 and 24.5 series in both single and wide-base configurations. If you're running a less common size, call us — we source quickly and our supplier relationships go back decades.

Commercial Truck Tires Across Nassau County

We know these
roads.

Nassau County's commercial economy runs on trucks. Contractors out of Hempstead, distributors out of Mineola, landscapers out of Valley Stream, fleets running the LIE from West Hempstead to Huntington. We've been putting tires on those trucks since 1938 — and we offer 24-hour road service when they blow on the Southern State at midnight.

Common Questions

Real answers.
No runaround.

What is the difference between steer, drive, and trailer tires?
They serve fundamentally different functions and are engineered differently. Steer tires prioritize handling precision and even wear — they sit on the front axle and control direction. Drive tires prioritize traction under engine torque and fuel efficiency — they're on the powered rear axle and take the most punishment. Trailer tires prioritize load capacity and heat resistance — they roll freely on non-powered axles for thousands of highway miles. Running a drive tire in the steer position, or a trailer tire on a drive axle, shortens tire life, increases fuel consumption, and creates a safety issue. We spec them correctly from the start.
What load ranges do you stock for commercial truck tires?
We keep load ranges E (10-ply), F (12-ply), G (14-ply), and H (16-ply) on-site at 265 Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead. The right load range depends on your vehicle's GAWR (gross axle weight rating) and how you load it. Overloading a tire that isn't rated for the weight is one of the most common and preventable causes of commercial tire failure on Long Island roads.
Do you carry wide-base or super single commercial tires?
Yes. Wide-base (super single) tires like the 425/65R22.5 and 445/65R22.5 replace dual-tire assemblies on drive and trailer positions. They save weight, improve fuel economy, and reduce maintenance complexity. We stock a selection of wide-base sizes and can source specialty configurations quickly through our manufacturer relationships.
Can you service commercial trucks broken down on Long Island highways?
Yes. We offer 24-hour emergency road service for commercial trucks throughout Nassau County and into western Suffolk. Our service vehicles are equipped for roadside tire changes and emergency repairs on Class 6–8 trucks. The number is (516) 485-2292 — a person answers, not voicemail. Common service corridors include the LIE (I-495), Northern State Parkway, Southern State Parkway, Sunrise Highway, and Hempstead Turnpike.
Do you offer fleet pricing on commercial truck tires?
Yes. Fleet accounts include volume pricing across all tire categories, consolidated net-30 monthly invoicing, and 24-hour emergency road service. There's no complicated setup — call (516) 485-2292 and we'll get your account running. We serve fleets from single work trucks to 50-vehicle commercial operations throughout Nassau County.
